Prof. Dr. Praveen Jha
Praveen Jha, served as Sukhamoy Chakravarty Chair Professor of Economics at the Centre for Economic Studies and Planning (CESP), and as Adjunct Professor at the Centre for Informal Sector and Labour Studies (CISLS), the School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, India, before superannuating on January 31, 2026. Prior to joining the JNU, he was on the faculty of St. Stephen´s College, University of Delhi and at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie. He has been a Visiting Fellow to several Institutions/ Universities, including University of Bremen, Germany; Tianjin University of Finance and Economics Tianjin, China; Rhodes University, Grahamstown, South Africa; Sam Moyo African Institute of Agrarian Studies, Harare, Zimbabwe; International Labour Organisation, Geneva; University of Leipzig, Germany; and Kassel University, Germany. He has also been associated with several research studies with the UN institutions such as the ILO, the UNICEF, the UNESCO, the UNDP, and the FAO. He is one of the founding Editors of the Journal, Agrarian South: Journal of Political Economy; he is also on the Editorial Board of the Notebooks: The Journal of Studies on Power; and on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Indian Journal of Labour Economics. He has approximately 20 books and monographs, and close to 150 journal and book articles to his credit.
